The Queen of Rubbish is a small sized statue of a grayhound laying on a heap of consumer goods. Throughout (art)history grayhounds have been portrayed with kings and rulers as a symbol of status and aristocracy. Nowadays in the Netherlands, grayhounds are being used by people to practice illegal hunting at night. Not to gather food in an economic crisis, but as a way of diverting oneself. Its being done for the sheer pleasure of seeing small game being ripped to pieces. Therefore one can say that the grayhound has become a symbol of decadence.
